Learning Outcome Goals

Primary Goals

  • The practice of federal criminal law, including major policy concerns. Statutory analysis, including close reading of statutes and procedural rules, & application of law to facts. Ethical & professional issues unique to the practice of criminal law

Secondary Goals

  • The judicial process applicable to federal criminal cases. Values-based considerations & ethics in the exercise of prosecutorial discretion. Various lawyering skills, incl. oral advocacy, legal writing & drafting, legal research, & case theory & planning.
