This course focuses on the fundamentals of tort law, a set of common-law doctrines that assign duties of care and liability for injuries. We will consider negligence, the role of custom, malpractice, duty, emotional and economic harm, causation, strict liability, products liability, nuisances, damages, defenses, and alternatives to tort law.
