This full semester externship provides a valuable hands on complement to the Law School’s conventional courses in public law, by allowing students to integrate their public law education in an applied setting. Externs will work full time (a minimum of 40 hours per week) at externship placements in participating federal government law offices in Washington, D.C. Externship Placement supervisors will be leaders in their field who are committed to ensuring a quality learning experience for students and who will collaborate with Columbia faculty to create a learning agenda that complements the seminar.
Rachel Pauley, Director of Government Programs and Lecturer in Law, will oversee placements, including the application process and term-time counseling.The Application process for this externship is on a separate timeline and has its own application.
