Class of 1993 Reunion Class Notes
Kevin D. Hughes ’93
It is so great to read all of these Class Note and to catch up with all of [Wylie]. Let me add my voice to the clamor:
After graduation, I went to DC and worked at Hogan & Hartson as a litigation associate, and one of my highlights there was writing appellate briefs for this one particular rising star junior partner, and that was a highlight primarily because this rising star junior partner happened to be a close relative of our dear classmate Sara Podrasky, and also, secondarily, because he later became Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
I like working with future Supreme Court Chief Justices as much as anyone, but one's mind is forever restless for new adventures, and I had been getting up early to write screenplays and sitcom scripts, and dreaming of worldwide fame and even pickup basketball games with movie stars, and so it will surprise none of you that by October 1996, my wife and I found ourselves on a plane to sunny Los Angeles, where we remain to this day (in LA, not on the plane), almost seventeen years later, and where I continue to practice law, as a business litigator representing shopping center owners and technology companies and vodka distillers and even the occasional multinational pharmaceutical company, and as for my writing, it continues to this day as well, although I must admit with perhaps a tiny bit less worldwide acclaim and fewer movie star BFFs than my quite vivid daydreams might have led me to believe.
My daughter, Sophia, turned 14 yesterday, plays the cello, like her mother, wants to be an architect/designer, and has very recently landed her first job, designing our family room. My son, Stavros, turned 12 three weeks ago. He dreams of being an animator, is teaching himself stop-motion filmmaking, and has committed to memory several of Eminem's most challenging works.
I've been writing this in between emails and phone calls and now have to run, but I will be at the Reunion and look forward to seeing all of [Wylie]!
