Introduction to SONI

Welcome to the Student Organization News and Information (SONI) system! This system allows you to subscribe and unsubscribe to student organization email lists. We hope that you will find it a helpful way to receive information from student organizations, and a good way to cut down on your email traffic. You can also see all emails sent out by student groups on the SONI Log. If you have any questions, please contact the IT helpdesk at helpdesk@law.columbia.edu.

SONI Instructions

The Student Organization News and Information (SONI) System is designed to let student organizations email students directly, and to allow you to subscribe or unsubscribe from any student group mailing list.

At the beginning of each academic year, you are automatically subscribed to all of the student organization and journal email lists. Each student group will send out emails from their own email accounts, and you will receive emails from each group, unless you unsubscribe from those groups.

Every message sent from a student organization address will also be saved on the SONI web log. This allows you to see all the email messages that have been sent out by every group, even if you are not subscribed to those mailing lists. To see upcoming student events, you can also read the LawCal emails, which list all student activities for the week. If you are interested in the messages sent out by a particular group, click on the link next to the group name, and you will see a web log of their messages. Both the SONI web log and the SONI mailing list log page require your LawNet user ID and password.  All messages on the log will be expunged after 30 days.

To Unsubscribe:

To unsubscribe from group email lists, visit http://coursewebs.law.columbia.edu/sublist (LawNet ID required).  Choose the group(s) you no longer want to receive emails from and click "UNSUBSCRIBE selected."  It may take up to 24 hours for your name to be removed from the selected lists.

To Subscribe/Rejoin:

To rejoin group email lists, visit  http://coursewebs.law.columbia.edu/sublist (LawNet ID required).  Choose the group(s) you wish to receive emails from and click "SUBSCRIBE selected."  It may take up to 24 hours for your name to be added to the selected lists.
