Sharon Djemal will be the Director of the Consumer Practice at the East Bay Community Law Center effective August 22, 2014. Currently, she is a Supervising Attorney and Clinical Instructor in EBCLC’s Housing Practice, where she supervises attorneys and law students in housing litigation (including unlawful detainers, affirmative lawsuits, and administrative proceedings), teaches Berkeley law students civil litigation, research and writing, interviewing skills, negotiations, and ethics, and manages her own active caseload. Prior to her work at EBCLC, Sharon was a Soros Fellow at the Urban Justice Center’s Homelessness Outreach and Prevention Project, where she represented public housing tenants being evicted from their homes based on criminal allegations. Sharon is currently a member of the California State Bar’s Standing Committee on the Delivery of Legal Service and serves as a Pro Tem Judge in Contra Costa County.
