As Assistant Director, Michael directs external communications, oversees events and ensures that internal operations run smoothly.
In his role as Assistant Director for the Millstein Center for Global Markets and Corporate Ownership, Michael Mahoney manages the day-to-day operations of the Center. In coordination with Senior Staff, Michael ensures that internal operations run smoothly, leads event planning, directs external communications, oversees corporate fundraising, conducts research or editing as needing, and manages numerous aspects of the Center's many programs and projects.
Michael joined the Millstein Center from United Way of New York City's Corporate Relations department, where he managed a portfolio of fifteen corporate partnerships, created and implemented CSR business strategy, managed all of the companies’ CSR activities with United Way, and frequently spoke on behalf of the organization. Previously, he worked in nonprofit governance as Outreach Coordinator for United Way’s BoardServeNYC program, where he managed relationships with board members and board candidates, facilitated governance training sessions, and coordinated all external communications. Prior to this role, Michael spent three years working in Japan as a journalist, editor, and English instructor, and six months in the publishing sector in New York.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and French from McGill University, and has completed coursework at the School of Visual Arts in New York and Uppsala University in Sweden.
