On June 1 and 2, 2009 the Second Joint Annual “From Ivy to Olives Academic Symposium,” organized by Zohar Goshen, ADL and Columbia Law School, took place at Ono Academic College in Israel.
The conference brought faculty from Columbia and other law schools into contact with their counterparts in academia and jurisprudence in Israel. Participants from Columbia included David Schizer, Dean and the Lucy G. Moses Professor of Law; Zohar Goshen, Professor of Law and Chairman, Israel Securities Authority; Merritt Fox, Michael E. Patterson Professor of Law and Nasdaq Professor for Law and Economics of Capital Markets; George Fletcher, Cardozo Professor of Jurisprudence; and Matthew Waxman, Associate Professor Law.
The two-day symposium focused on issues of freedom of speech and corporate governance, followed by several days of briefings with journalists, military officials, diplomats, Palestinians, an Israeli Supreme Court justice and Israeli academics in the fields of law, university governance, and management.
The program was made possible thanks to the generosity of The Finkelstein Foundation and The Leslie and Roslyn Goldstein Foundation.
