Reservations for multimedia equipment to be used before or after normal working hours need to be made as far in advance as possible in order to allow us to schedule staff.
We need at least two business days notice for events taking place during normal working hours. “Normal working hours” refers to weekday events which begin after 8:30 a.m. and end before 6 p.m. Weekend reservations for equipment requires even more notice and are only accepted conditionally, based on staff availability. If we are unable to provide you with support we will work with you to find a suitable solution.
During certain times of the year, such as before exams or religious holidays, heavy demands are made on equipment and staff, so it is advisable to make reservations as early in the semester as possible. Also, any activity requiring audiovisual support on a frequent basis or weekend use may need approval by the Law School for additional funding.
Information Technology supports regularly scheduled Law School classes, Law School faculty, and Law School student events from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. without charges. Events sponsored by outside organizations or other Columbia groups are not normally scheduled during regular school hours. Charges will apply for:
The minimum charge is $50 per hour for staff time and the use of classroom AV equipment, plus material. On weekends there is a four-hour minimum charge ($200) if a staff member needs to be present to support an event. If an event uses more than one classroom or for other reasons is complex enough to require more than one staff member, the charge is $50 per hour, per staff member.
Charges for videoconferencing, webstreaming of an event, complex video recording or other high level support will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
Please contact buildingevents@law.columbia.edu for further information regarding furniture or custodial arrangements for events.
