Educational Technology worked closely with Professor Nathaniel Persily on the technology aspects of his DrawCongress.org project. This project was undertaken to support the Seminar on Redistricting and Gerrymandering offered during the Spring Semester 2011 (and a special Summer 2011 instance). This seminar will produce revised maps for all congressional districts in every state based on the released data from the 2010 Census.
Support by Educational Technology includes acting as liaison with the vendor of the specialized software that is used in the redistricting project, Caliper Corporation and their software Maptitude for Redistricting, assisting with various state census data sets along with troubleshooting other technology problems.
For more about this project see Columbia Law School Project to Draw Congressional Maps Goes Live.
Educational Technology is in the process of developing other special projects. More information will be available shortly.
