To access the faculty profiles for editing, go to web.law.columbia.edu/admin. Use your LawNet username and password to log in. Once logged in, navigate to web.law.columbia.edu/faculty. You can find the faculty members you need to edit there.
Editing an existing faculty profile
Once you are in the faculty section, navigate to the professor you need to edit. Click on their name and you will be taken to their profile page.
The name of the professor will appear. Click on edit.
The edit button is featured above the faculty member’s head or their contact information if no photo is available.
Things you cannot touch or else get in trouble
Skip everything on top (username, password, etc.). Don’t touch it.
Name and Title
Scroll down to User Information. You will see the first and last name fields, as well as the Title. You can change the title when a professor changes a title.
Faculty Details (Office Location, Phone, Fax, Email)
Under the header Faculty Role, you can select a role for a particular type of professor, if the role of the professor officially changes. This is important for when you create a new profile.
This is a little tricky because the Faculty Details section is collapsed. Under the Title field, click on Faculty Details (in blue). This is where all the editing will take place. You can add and update information on office location, phone number, fax number, and email address in the fields under those names. Under the header Faculty Role, you can select a role for a particular type of professor, if the role of the professor officially changes. This is important for when you create a new profile.
Add or change an image for the faculty member in the Faculty Profile Image section. To upload an image, click on Browse, find the photo on your computer and click Upload. The photo must be cropped to 300px wide by 360px in height. It can only be in .png or .jpg format.
Faculty Profile Bio
The Faculty Profile Bio is the place where you will add the faculty member’s biography. This is also the location where you will make changes requested by the professor.
The bio section has all the editing options you do for a Basic Page (bold, italics, adding a link, etc.). To be consistent with the other profiles, please do not use headers or any other styling to the text. Do not use links unless necessary.
You also cannot copy and paste directly into the editing box! Use the Paste from Plain Text icon or the Paste from (Microsoft) Word icon . If you don’t, your text will look really bad and you’ll have to fix it.
You can add/change assistant information in this section, including the name, email, and phone number.
Faculty Profile Bio Summary
This section is where the short description on the list pages of professors. List the professor’s title at Columbia Law School only.
Faculty Profile Elements
This section includes the elements necessary for additional information about each professor.
Under Element Name, select an element from the drop-down menu. Full-time professors should have these fields: Education, Areas of Expertise, and Publications.
To add more elements, scroll down to under the elements section and click on Add another Element. Once you click, you can proceed to add additional elements. Here is how the main fields will look like inside the elements section.

Other Elements That Can Be Used for Full-Time Faculty Only
Activities and Affiliations, Honors and Awards, In the News, Remarks and Testimony, and Professional Experience.
Visiting Faculty, Academic Fellows, Associates in Law, and Officers of Research should have Education, Areas of Expertise, and Publications elements. Affiliated Faculty and Emeriti should not have elements, only a biography.
