This course concerns the common law of injuries to the person and to property. We will explore topics ranging from basic theories of liability, such as negligence, to class actions and mass injury cases, such as those about tobacco, pharmaceuticals, and environmental disasters. Special attention will be given to the design and use of tort remedies, which range from injunctions to punitive damages.
