This is a basic introductory course in contract law. Topics include the justification for enforcing promises, consideration and other formalities, regulation of freedom of contract, the bargaining process and pre-contractual liability, interpretation,modification, performance, and breach, excuse for failure of basic assumptions, and remedies for breach of contract. These topics are explored in the context of contracts for the sale of goods and services; construction, insurance, leasing, and employment contracts; contracts for the sale and use of land, information licensing, and other significant types of agreements.
