As part of several ongoing projects, SCCCL has sent representatives to three recent UNFCCC Conferences of the Parties. This page collects our firsthand accounts of these negotiations.
The Legal Response Initiative (LRI) is a pro bono initiative designed to assist and support least developed countries (LDP) with legal advice and legal capacity-building services during U.N. climate change negotiations. It strives to establish equity between the wealthier countries that have better access to legal resources and LDPs that are burdened by limited legal resources and are also the most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. CCCL collaborates with LRI to help provide LDPs with access to U.S. specialists during climate negotiations, and helps in the drafting of background papers in between negotiations.
The Center for Climate Change Law's work on Threatened Island Nations includes a conference, "Threatened Island Nations: Legal Implications of a Changing Climate," and a 2013 book that grew out of this conference.
To aid in the assessment and comparison of the vast variety of offset protocols produced by a number of different entities around the world, SCCCL has produced a compilation of available offset protocols currently in use.
