Preparing for Future Floods

Federal agencies are to update flood-risk-reduction standards for federally funded projects to reflect a consistent approach that accounts for sea-level rise and other risk factors. This effort will incorporate the most recent science on expected sea-level rise and build on work by the Hurricane Sandy Rebuilding Task Force.
Implementation, Progress, and Outcomes
March 4, 2014: President Obama released his Fiscal Year 2015 Budget, which provides $150 million for National Flood Insurance Program mitigation grants to support efforts to protect policyholders’ properties from flood damage.
