Professor Pistor teaches at Columbia Law School, where her recent course offerings have included Corporations, Law & Development, and Lawyering Across Multiple Legal Orders. Before joining Columbia in 2001, she was an Assistant Professor for Public Policy at the Kennedy School of Government (2000 - 2001), worked at the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and Private International Law in Hamburg (1998 - 1999), was a Research Associate for the Harvard Institute for International Development (1995 - 1998), a Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School (1998 - 1999; 1994 - 1995), and a Senior Research Fellow for the Central European University Privatization Project (1993 - 1995).
She also currently serves as Principal Investigator of the Global Finance and Law Initiative (a collaborative research project aimed at re-conceptualizing the relation between finance and law, funded by INET), Member of the Board of Directors of the European Corporate Governance Institute, Research Associate with the Center for Economic Policy Research, and Editor of Economics of Transition.
