Student Life at Columbia Law School

The sense of community at Columbia is quite different from other neighborhoods in New York City; it is more spacious, less crowded, more collegiate, more reflective, and less hectic.

With a truly national and increasingly international student body, Columbia is a distinctive place to study law. The diversity of backgrounds and mindsets of our students fosters a place in which everyone, as well as everyone’s opinions, are both welcomed and challenged. 

Learning doesn’t end outside of the classroom. Whether it is through our more than 85 student organizations, our various health and wellness programs, or from the neighborhood in which you can live, Columbia Law School students have the opportunity to grow intellectually and emotionally during their three years of study.
